    Testing in three layers

Think of ADHD testing as three layers stacked on top of each other: self-screening, clinical interview, and (sometimes) neurocognitive testing.

    Layer 1: Self-screening

Take a validated questionnaire like the ASRS — try our free online ADHD test. This is what you do at home.

    Layer 2: Clinical interview

A licensed clinician walks through DSM-5 criteria with you. They ask about childhood, school, work, relationships, and rule out lookalikes (anxiety, depression, sleep apnea).

    Layer 3: Neurocognitive testing (optional)

Computerized attention tests, working memory tasks, executive function batteries. Adds objective data but isn't required.

    How to prepare

Make notes about specific moments your symptoms hurt school, work, or relationships. Concrete stories beat generic statements like 'I'm always distracted'.
